Welcome to the Vision Zero blog, where we will soon be highlighting street, crosswalk, sidewalk and bike lane improvements that will make transportation safer for San Antonio’s pedestrians and bicyclists.
Did you know?
- San Antonio is home to more than 4,000 miles of streets; 5,000 miles of sidewalks; and 239 miles of bike lanes: combined, it’s enough to get us 1/3 of the way around the world!
- One out of 10 pedestrians is injured in a collision with a vehicle traveling 20 miles an hour or less.
- Only one out of 10 pedestrians survives a collision with a vehicle going more than 40 miles an hour.
Vision Zero establishes that the loss of even one life or serious injury on our roads is unacceptable.
Look for this space to include interviews, videos, and interviews with some of our area’s newsmakers who help promote safe driving, biking, and walking in San Antonio.
